Toughest Wranglers Gather at Pinnacle Peak In Arizona
Over 500 cowboys and cowgirls gathered at the Pinnacle Peak to enjoy performances by Jesse Colter, Jerry Riopelle and the live performance of the L. Ron Hubbard wild west story, “Reign of the Gila Monster,” starring Marty Kove (Karate Kid), Paul Pape (Saturday Night Fever), Lee De Broux, Jesse Kove, Rob Word, Rex Hardin and Buck Montgomery.
“Reign of the Gila Monster” is the story of Sheriff Gilman, a man bent on saving the town of Pwderville from its vices—closing saloons at 6:00 pm, making merchants pay him exorbitant taxes and murdering all who oppose him.
Howdy Johnson, one of the original founders of Powderville is determined to stop the “Gila Monster” from these horrors—do or die in the attempt.
“Hysterically funny,” “One hundred degrees in the sun didn’t take me away from this story” and “extreme western wit” were just some of the commentary to the story and the show.
Organized by Galaxy Press in collaboration with Rex Hardin and Marty Kove, the event and the theatrical reading was a fundraiser for the Joe Niekro Foundation.
