Power Hour
Galaxy Press has teamed up with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America to provide Battlefield Earth for their daily Power Hour!
North America has over 5,000 Boys & Girls Clubs, serving over 3.6 million youth and teens.
Their Mission: To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
Their Vision: Provide a world-class Club experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who enters their doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle.
During Power Hour, the clubs create a setting where young people can do homework, get tutored learning, and participate in group activities including Book Clubs. All activities are supervised, and the young people are assisted to engage with their material.
They want Battlefield Earth! We did a small test, and the response from the clubs was immediate and enthusiastic.
In an interview with the Rocky Mountain News, L. Ron Hubbard stated, “Science fiction appeals to every age group because it is about the future and the human potential.”
With your help, we are providing Battlefield Earth and a discussion guide in each package to every single Boys & Girls Club in North America.
Our youth need real heroes. They need to learn about integrity, persistence, and the importance of production.
Battlefield Earth provides these messages while inspiring and uplifting readers.
Jonnie Goodboy Tyler was able to overcome impossible odds by getting educated—reading and learning from books! This message fits perfectly with the goals of the Boys and Girls Club and it’s what we want our young people to aspire to and practice.
Brandon Sanderson, New York Times bestselling author of the Young Adult superhero novels The Reckoners said the book is a “Pulse-pounding mile-a-minute sci-fi action-adventure that does not stop. It is a masterpiece of popular adventure science fiction.”
